Spirituality

When I was born into this world I always knew this was not really my home; perhaps just for a while. I would look up at the stars as a child and feel a longing in the very pit of my stomach wanting to be there, out there somewhere. I had little idea what the feeling meant but it’s pulling was very real.

Now as an adult I have more idea of what is means. As a child I was far more connected to the Universe than I realised. During this very materialistic experience on Earth I became more connected to this world and lost a bit of this yearning.

What I do now know is that we have two main parts to us, a Spirit/Soul and our physical bodies. As a young child that soul part, which has recently joined the body before birth, is far more connected to the Spirit world. This explains children playing with unseen friends, describing deceased relatives and remembering past lives.

All my life I have known things without being told like knowing someone’s character in a split second of meeting them, (I have often chosen not to know), knowing something will happen then it does, déjà vu and seeing things like spirit people.

I have had a great deal of time to ponder the reason of feeling that yearning and now I believe I know exactly what it is, ‘Trauma of Separation’. Separation from Spirit, The Universe or God if you like that term. This is the big lie - that we are separated from everything. It’s not true, we are not separate and that truth makes total sense and it makes us free. Recognising, ‘Universal Spiritual Love”, because I believe that is the only reality.

I have looked closely at many religions and seen truth in all of them but most have one thing in common. You are told what to believe not how to have a truly spiritual experience without separation. That I believe is the fundamental error of religion.

I think that what people call their spiritual journey is no more than reading books and believing in something. That is until things don’t go their way. Then it’s about who is to blame and asking why did this happen to me. Looking inside us is where you will find the answer, not with someone else, or the latest material gadget.

One thing I have learned through great pain is that being, ‘Spiritual’ does not mean, not upsetting others, or not doing things to keep others happy and you in misery. It does mean being true to yourself, even if that means to disappoint another. As I become more aware of my oneness with universe, this happens more often.

Secondly, Forgiveness, this sets you free from the poison of resentment. I have always tried to forgive and not hold on to that bitterness as it only you that it hurts. ” All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness the important thing is they should be part of our daily lives”. Lastly I think service to others is the other key to life. This brings joy to your spirit as it is doing what is natural and normal. It is positive and fall in line what the universal laws that govern all things. The law of cause and effect, law of attraction and the law of divine oneness (We and everything else are connected).
